Security for Public Sector and Government Organizations
Threats to government infrastructure are rapidly growing and the number of attacks continue to rise. On
one hand, information sharing is critical for the efciency of these organizations. On the other hand, security
management is becoming more challenging for IT managers. Sharp can help your organization meet US
government information security requirements through ISO 15408/Common Criteria certications or features
such as Common Access Card (CAC)/ Personal Identity Verication (PIV) authentication to maintain security
clearance to protect classied data.
•CommonCriteria(CC)andISO15408
ISO 15408 (International Standard Organization 15408) refers to a set of evaluation standards for security
products and systems established by the Common Criteria program. It provides a high level of condence
in the security functions of the products evaluated.
•IPV6/IPSec
IPV6 and IPSec protocols are the secure expansion of the IPv4 protocol. To comply with Federal
Government and Department of Defense requirements to support the transition to IPV6, most Sharp
MFPs support the IPV6/IPSec Protocols.
•CAC/PIVCardSupport
Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12 set in place a program requiring positive ID for federal
government organizations. Sharp MFPs with CAC or PIV cards help control access to government network
resources. Select Sharp MFPs with scanning and network capabilities support government ID security
requirements through embedded and external options, supporting secure network access with FIPS-201
