3.Connecttheacadapter.

4.Checkthatpowerissuppliedwhenyouturnonthecomputer.

5.Turnoffthecomputer.

6.Disconnecttheacadapterandinstallthechargedbatterypack.

7.Checkthatthebatterypacksuppliespowerwhenyouturnonthecomputer.

Checkingtheacadapter

Youareherebecausethecomputerfailsonlywhentheacadapterisused.

•Ifthepower-onindicatordoesnotturnon,checkthepowercordoftheacadapterforcorrectcontinuity

andinstallation.

•Ifthecomputerdoesnotchargeduringoperation,goto“Checkingoperationalcharging”onpage35

Tochecktheacadapter,dothefollowing:

1.Unplugtheacadaptercablefromthecomputer.

2.Measuretheoutputvoltageattheplugoftheacadaptercable.Seethefollowinggure:

3.Ifthevoltageisnotcorrect,replacetheacadapter.

•Iftheproblempersists,goto“FRUtests”onpage34.

Checkingoperationalcharging

Tocheckwhetherthebatterychargesproperlyduringoperation,dothefollowing:

Note:Beforeyoubegin,installadischargedbatterypackorbatterypackthathaslessthan50%ofthe

totalpowerremaininginthecomputer.

1.Ifthestatusindicatordoesnotturnon,removethebatterypackandletitreturntoroomtemperature.

2.Reinstallthebatterypack.
